Change Management
Manufacturers with TEC certificates for their products must comply with the applicable Indian regulations for TEC registration compliance: The Technical Standards – TS. The applicant/ TEC certificate holder is responsible to announce any planned relevant changes by submitting the required applications and to implement changes only after approval by the Indian authorities.
Notifiable changes include the following items:
- Changes of the product configuration
- Changes regarding the product structure (e.g. adding another communication module)
- Addition of new products on one TEC certificate (maximum of 10 products per certificate)
Changes made by the Indian certification authority that require certificate updates include:
- Updated Generic Requirements (GR), Interface Requirements (IR), Service Requirements (SR), or Standards (herein forth called “TEC Regulations”)
The TEC Regulations explicitly states that only the responsible certification body will decide if an official change application must be filed and what the corresponding consequences for the certificate holder will be.
Here is a brief video about the TEC accreditation, presented by Julian Busch, director of
MPR International GmbH:
The Indian authorities constantly work on improving the TEC Regulations. As soon as a new Regulation becomes mandatory, all changes in certificates and new TEC accreditations need to comply with the new requirement. Holders of TEC certificates that are in compliance with an old standards will have to apply for a change of standard within the deadline specified by the Indian certification authority and may be required to do product re-tests according to the new Technical standard.
The framework of the TEC certificates are determined by the TEC Regulations. The various regulations describe the TEC approval process, TEC certificate characteristics, relevant products and regulations regarding the marking. When the Indian certification authorities issue new Regulations, certificate holders are responsible to apply for a change of certificate within a certain time frame after a new Regulation has been officially announced.
Valid certificates are required to comply with the most current TEC standards and Requirements. If TEC certificate holders do not apply for a change of their registration within the allotted timeframe, they run the risk of non-conformance and possibly even suspension or revocation of their TEC certificate.
