iCat steht für International Centre for Automotive Technology und ist eine der führenden indischen Behörden, die die AIS-Zertifizierung durchführen können. Zu den weiteren Hauptaufgaben gehören alle Arten von Tests an Automobilkomponenten, die auch für die BIS-Zertifizierung von Automobilkomponenten notwendig sind. Die Berechtigung dazu hat das iCat durch das National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (kurz NATRiP) von der indischen Regierung.
Was macht iCAT?
iCAT hat die Akkreditierung für alle Zulassungen von Fahrzeugen und deren Komponenten gemäß den Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) – Regel Nr. 126 sowie die Erlaubnis der BIS für Tests an Rädern, Reifen und Glas für die BIS-Zertifizierung. Daneben hat iCAT aber auch die Autorisierung des Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) für die Prüfung und Zulassung von Generatoren sowie verschiedene Akkreditierungen der NABL (nach ISO 17025:2005), der englischen VCA, des CAFE Sektretariats des Ministeriums für Straßen und Transport. Weiterhin hat das 2006 gegründete Testinstitut alle Bedingungen für Tests an Motoren, LEDs, UPS, IT-Produkten, AV-Produkten, Haushaltsgeräten u.a. Es ist ISO 9001-, 14001-, 18001- und 45001- zertifiziert.
